Asalamualikum, i would like to share some information about e-learning.Actually ,i have made some readings about this topic and i found the book which its title (Web-Based Learning by: Gayle V and Karen L) very useful. The term e-learning (electronic learning)and online learning have been used synonymously with web-based instruction (WBI). The term e-learning is typically found in business and industry training literature (Schank, 2002; Stockley, 2003; Wagner, 2001) or in international education and training information (Joint Information Systes Coittee[JISC] , 2003). In international settings, a clear distinction is made between e-learning and WBI, where e-learning refers to the use of any electronic applications and processes for instruction, including CBT (computer-based training), WBI, CDs (compact discs), and so on, whereas WBI is defined as instruction via the Internet, Internet, and Web only (JISC; Stockley; Department for Education and Skills, 2002). In the United States, the concepts of WBI and online learning (or online instruction) are situations where "learners are at a distance from the instructor but all are connected via the Internet and web" (Center for technology in Education at Johns Hopkins University [CTE], 2003, n. p.). For purposes of this discussion. WBI and online learning (or instruction) will be considered synonymous. Following the interational convention e-learning will encopass a variety of electronic applications, including WBI, CBT, and other multimedia that can be distributed via the web or on CD or DVD.
